- Tripp Lite’s new patch panel solutions provide future-proof scalability and density through their modular design. The only solution currently on the market to offer cassettes for both copper and fiber cabling, these high-density copper/fiber cassettes allow a user to interconnect any combination of 10Gb, 40Gb and 100/120Gb network equipment.
Siemon has launched a new mixed media patch panel that the company says offers exceptional versatility and density, making it ideal for situations where space is limited. The new 1U copper/fiber combo panel allows copper outlets to be mixed with fiber ports in the same efficiently utilized rack-mount space.
The 1U copper/fiber combo patch panel is compatible with all of Siemon's plug-and-play metal (PPM) fiber modules and metal fiber adapter plates, accepting up to four fiber modules or adapter plates within its 1U height. Each copper adapter plate fits up to six copper outlets with individual port identification and accommodates both shielded and unshielded copper systems, from Category 5e to Siemon’s high performance Category 7A TERA and Category 6A Z-MAX outlets.

Constructed of lightweight, high-strength steel with an anodized black finish, the copper/fiber combo panel is robust and designed to be installer-friendly, says Siemon. The unit is ANSI/EIA 310-D compliant, with an integrated grounding strip to ensure proper ground path from copper outlets to grounding point. The design includes integrated cable management features to secure cables in order to provide proper strain relief; the panel also comes supplied completely with tie-wraps, a grounding kit, and mounting screws.
“The combo panel efficiently utilizes rack mount space to maximize density. By accommodating a range of fiber and copper combinations, it provides considerable flexibility and choice for those designing cabling infrastructure,' comments Brian McCaffrey, product manager for Siemon. 'Designed with installation and easy operation as a priority, the panel has many features that improve accessibility and safeguard fiber and copper performance. This unique panel is sure to be of great value in the data center and in any other environment where space is at a premium.”

Rack-mountable front-entrance WDM fiber panel
AFL’s Xpress Fiber Management (XFM) 5RU shelf is a rack-mountable interconnect panel specifically designed to manage fibers in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) applications, or in situations where fiber entry will occur only at the front entrance of the panel. Based on the LGX intermateability platform, the panel is fully compatible with AFL’s WDM, XFM Optical Cassette and Poli-MOD product lines. Routing rings on the bottom of the front panel allow cable assemblies to exit comfortably, while the back of the panel is left open to reduce size and weight. The XFM shelf can be mounted at three depths within the rack, which includes a flush-mount option. The shelf also features a clear, removable front door and a pullout cable designator card.
